19、 the sea serpent. But people came to the lake more to relax than to go on expeditions looking for mythical beasts. After the photo, the scientific experts were called in. First, they examined the photo itself. Could be a plesiosaur. Yes, but it could be a tree trunk, too. Or an otter. Later, there w
20、ould be explorations by a submarine with high tech sensing devices. Today, we have a full-blown tourist industry said to have generated about $37 million in 1993, complete with submarine rides (about one hundred bucks an hour in 1994) and a multi-media tourist center. 21、nd, there is a webcam site for your viewing pleasure with cameras placed both above and below the water.On moving film in 1960 An indistinct moving picture was taken by an aeronautical engineer, Tim Dinsdale in 1960. The film may not have convinced the world, but Dinsdale gave up his job, and spent
22、the next twenty years trying to prove they existed. He saw it twice more, but never got the photographic proof. Sonar Sweeps in 1970 The American Academy of Applied Science funded a search by Dr Robert Rines, using sonar and automatic cameras. In 1972 one of their cameras photographed, in the murk,
23、what appeared to be a flipper about 6 feet long on just four frames of film. Various sonar contacts followed, but it was not until 1975 that they got a vague, very blurred image of what might possibly have been the face Submarines In more recent years mini submarines have tried to find Nessie, witho

46、e could exist on the verge of discovery? In many remote areas of the world there have been sightings of just such a creature. Known by many names such as Sasquatch, Yeti, Almas and many more. Is this an unknown primate, the “missing link“ or some other yet unknown species? There is evidence to suppo
47、rt the existence of just such a creature in the North-western United States as well as other remote areas. There are still numerous sightings every year. The descriptions of the creatures are very similar from sighting to sighting. There are discrepancies in some of the details but the mind does pla
48、y tricks on us when frightened. Exaggeration and hoaxes do account for some of the discrepancies in the descriptions as well. The height is the most varied detail. This is easily explained if you take into account the possible age difference of the particular creature. Did they see and adult or juve
49、nile? There would be a noticeable size difference depending on the age. Then there are the foot prints.The footprints left by the creatures are, on average, considerably larger than that of a human. On the most part, the creatures have been shy and reclusive. They normally try to avoid contact with humans. Every now and then there are reports of sightings in populated areas. Perhaps the creatures are just as curious about us as we are about them.
