Tell the class that the title of this lesson is “Pizza and hot dogs.” Is anybody familiar with these types of food? Who has eaten pizza? Has anybody e

4、ver eaten a hot dog?LETS LOOK AT OUR BOOKSGive the standard command for students to take out their student books.1. What do they like?Give the “listen” command. Ask the students to listen the first time, then say the words along with the audiotape the second time. The audiotape says:Danny Many peopl

5、e in Canada like pizza and hot dogs.Many people in Canada like pizza and hot dogs.Have the class look at the picture at the top of page 36. Who is eating pizza? (The boy.) Who is eating hot dogs? (The girl.)Briefly review the concept of plurals. Write the word hot dog on the blackboard, then write h

6、ot dogs. Remind the students that when there is more than one item, for most words you indicate that plural state by simply adding an s. Have the students repeat these words a couple of times: hot dog, hot dogs.2. What is your favourite food?Give the “listen” command. Ask the students to listen the

9、d materialsan assortment of large vocabulary cards with scrambled words printed on them and the unscrambled word written discretely in small print on the backNote: This game works best if words of varying lengths are used.Divide the class into pairs of students or small groups. Choose a vocabulary c

10、ard and write the word, in scrambled form (with the letters mixed up into the wrong order), on the blackboard.Challenge the groups to try to figure out what word it is. To do this, they will have to rearrange the letters into a word that they know. When a group thinks they have the answer, they shou

11、ld raise their hands.If that groups answer is correct, they win the round. If a team answers incorrectly, the round continues until someone arrives at the correct answer. If another team finishes a I the same time and also has the correct answer, they also win points.Points are awarded based on the

12、number of letters in the word; for example, the word pizza is worth five points.Continue with other scrambled vocabulary words, some long and some short. The team(s) with the most points at the end of the game wins.TEACHING TIPA quick way to organize groupsTo quickly organize a class of sixty studen

13、ts into groups of six, ask the students to “count off.” They take turns saying the numbers, in order, from one to ten. Then ask the “ones” to meet in a spot in the classroom, the “twos” to meet in a different spot, and so on.LETS DO SOME EXERCISESGive the standard command for students to take out th

14、eir activity books.PAGE 36. Find the favourite food! using pencils, the students complete the two maze paths. Then they write the words underneath the pictures. What is Jennys favourite food? What is Bobs favourite food?PAGE 37. Find the same sound. The students say the word pictured in the first co

15、lumn. Then they circle the word in the second column that begins with the same first letter. Complete this activity as a class, or check it afterward as a class.CLASS CLOSINGEnd todays lesson by having students number off using some of the vocabulary from the last lesson: mother, father, sister, bro

16、ther, son, daughter. Remind the students to remember their words.When todays class is over, have the students stand by word. You might say “Now all students with the word brother may stand,” and then move on to another word until all students are standing. Wave and say “Good-bye” to signal that class is over.
