5、ght be the journey through life.二 情态动词have 过去分词用来表示对发生在过去的事情的推测。1.Li Bai must have had a strange life.2. He cant have been interested in a normal job.3. He may have died when he fell out of boat.4. 6、h.三情态动词表推测的用法情态动词 must, can, could, may, might 都可以用来表推测。在肯定句中,must 表示的可能性最大, can / could 次之,may / might 最小。表示否定含义时,cant 语气最强,很有把握;couldnt 次之,may not/might not 最弱,把握性最小。1.must 表推测的用法及句型:A: must动词原型 表示对现在情况的推测;B: must be v-ing 形式表示对正在发生情况的推测;C: musthave过去分词表示对过去情况的推测。注意 1: must 表推测只能用于肯定句,而表示“一定不”时,要用

7、 cant; 询问可能性时,用can。对比:He must know my telephone number. 他一定知道我的电话号码。He cant know my telephone number. 他一定不知道我的电话号码。Can he know my telephone number? 他有可能知道我的电话号码吗?注意 2:在含有 must 的反意疑问句中,疑问部分的助动词根据实际情况而定:He must be an actor, isnt he?(表现在 )他一定是个演员,对吗? She must have met a fairy, hasnt she? (表完成)她一定遇到仙女了,

8、是吗?It must have rained last night, didnt it? (表过去)昨晚一定下雨了,是不是?2. can /cant 表示推测时的用法1)can 表示推测时,往往用于否定句或疑问句;cant 表示“一定不 ”,语气很肯定。can 在疑问句中意思是“会、可能” 。He cant go to school today. = It is impossible that he goes to school. 他一定没去上学。Can the news be true? 这消息可能是真的吗?2)can /cant 表推测时的句型A:can/cant 动词原型表示对现在情况的

9、推测B:can /cant bev-ing 形式表示对正在发生情况的推测C:can/cant have过去分词表示对过去情况的推测3)在含有 cant 的反意疑问句中,疑问部分的助动词根据实际情况而定:He cant be a teacher, is he? 他不是教师,是吗?She cant have finished her homework, has she? 她一定没有完成家庭作业,是不是?John cant have gone swimming yesterday, did he?昨天约翰一定没去游泳,对吗?3.may 和 might 的用法1)may, might 表示推测时,意思

10、是“可能” 、 “也许”, 语气上不是很肯定。He may / might be in his office now. = It is possible that he is in his office.他现在可能在办公室。注:might 不表示过去时态,只是语气上比may 更委婉,表示的可能性更小。2)may, might 表推测时,可以用于否定句,意思是“可能不、也许不” ,但不用于疑问句。He may / might not come back forever. 他也许永远不回来了。It may/ might not snow tonight.今天晚上可能不会下雪。3)may/ migh

11、t 表推测时的句型:may/ might动词原型表示对现在情况的推测may/ mightbe v-ing 形式表示对正在发生的情况的推测两案导学高中英语选修 8(外研版)4may/ mighthave过去分词表示对过去情况的推测4.could 的用法1)could 表示推测,表示某事有可能发生或可能是事实。在肯定句中没有 must 那么有把握;在否定句中没有 cant 那么有把握。 2)could 还可以用于表示客气、委婉、礼貌的请求语气。Excuse me, could you tell me the way to the bus station?四、情态动词的其他用法1.should 的用

12、法1)should 可以用来表示假设、意愿、可能性、义务、委托、建议、命令、目的等。I should advise you to say less and do more.我想劝你少说多做。 (表意愿)She is considering how she should answer.她正在考虑应该如何作答。 (表义务)The boys shouldnt be playing football at this time. They should be at school. 孩子们这个时候不该在踢足球,他们应该在学校上学。 (表可能性)2)should(not)have过去分词 表示“本(不)应该

13、 ”,常含有后悔、责备之意。We should have checked the time before we left. 我们本应该先核对一下时间再动身。You shouldnt have lent him money three years ago.你本不应该在三年前借钱给他的。(而实际上却已经)2.Shall 的用法1)用于主语是一、三人称提出请求建议时2)用于主语是二三人称表达命令、警告、允诺或威胁时3.would 的用法would 是 will 的过去式,表示意志、习惯性、推测、设想、请求、愿望、疑惑等。She would not see the dentist even thoug

14、h she was in considerable pain. (意愿)When my parents were away, my grandmother would look after me. (习惯性)The person you mentioned would be her son. (推测) 4.would/should/could 用于虚拟语气,表示与现在、将来或过去事实相反的假设。If I were you , I should/could/would quarrel with the headmaster. (与现在事实相反)If time permitted tomorrow

15、, I should/would/ could drive you to the station. (与将来事实相反)If I had seen him last night, I should/would/could have gone with him. (与过去事实相反)5.情态动词 + have + done”表“本来” 使用情形分析1)should have done 过去本来应该(而实际上并没有) should not have done 本不应该 We should have studied last night, but we went to the concert inste

16、ad. 我们昨晚本应学习的,但我们却去看音乐会了。(实际上没有学习)2)could have done表示“过去本来能够” ,但实际上没做。如:I could have run 100 metres in 12 seconds.我本来能在 12 秒钟内跑 100 米的(实际上没能)If you could have finished the task in time, you could have been promoted. 如果你当时能如期完成任务,你可能已提升了。(实际上没有完成任务)3)need not have done表示过去已做的事,事实上没有必要。如:I need not ha
