3、mework.First, the teacher can choose some students to read the story that they rewrote, and then praise those who did good job.Then ask the students to tell the sameness and difference between the two astronauts. Do you know what “gold apple” means?Write “gold apple” on the Bb.Ss: Maybe its an apple made of gold.T: Thats not the exact meaning of it. It means something can cause fighting or disaster. And can you guess what “white elephant” means

7、?Write “white elephant” on the Bb.Ss: An elephant in white?T: No, actually it means tragedy or disaster. So there are some words in English with special meanings. And also there are some phrases and sentences in English with very special and different meanings. We call them idioms. An idiom is a phr

8、ase or sentence whose meaning is not clear from the meanings of its individual words. It must be understood as a whole because it often does not mean what it appears to mean. For another example, “spill the beans”.Write “spill the beans” on the Bb.T: It means “give away secret information, especiall

9、y without intending to do so”.2. Ask the students to say some idioms.T: Now if you have ever heard of any idioms please share with us, and remember to tell us the deep meaning of the idioms.Write the idioms that the students provide on the Bb.3. Help the students to review the phrases and sentences

10、on the Bb again.Step III PracticeThis activity provides further practice of idioms.1. Guess the meanings of the idioms with the pictures.T: Next, we will see some idioms with interesting pictures that can help you to understand the idioms better. Please try your best to guess the meanings of them.Sh
