、 Coaching Archery Course Administration Handbook 5Version 1.5 (October 2012)Archery GB will supply all Learner resources usually directly to the Lead Tutor. Lead Tutors will hand out the resources to Learners at the start of the course.3.2 Getting StartedCourse planning meeting (CA and local support

、 staff or volunteers)In coaching it has been said “Perfect Planning Prevents Poor Performance”. A good course, like a good shot, requires sound preparation. The course must, naturally, have a satisfactory outcome in terms of participants success, but there should be more to it than that. The course

、should be enjoyable for both Tutors and Learners alike be conducted in a comfortable environment and be economic in terms of the time taken to complete and financial costIn planning a course the first thought probably has to be “how many Learners?” The local County Coaching Organisation may already

、have a demand from potential Learners sufficient to justify running the course, or there may be few or none and consequently there will be a need to advertise. However, the eventual number of Learners enrolled on a course will be limited by the resources available in terms of venue(s), and funding.I

、t is recommended that 12 is the Maximum number of Learners for a Level 2 course, with 1 Lead Tutor. This is a recommendation based on experience. The number of Learners on a course should reflect the local needs and resources. The most important people on the course are the Learners and having too m

、any Learners on the course may not serve their best interests. It should also be born in mind that the “supported practice” aspect of the course requires the Learners to work within their club environment and clubs should be able to support each Learner. It is recommended that the County or Regional

、 Coaching Committee is involved in the pre-planning and mentors required. Once a course demand has been established and a provisional start date arranged, it is advisable to have a pre-course planning meeting with the CA. At this meeting the following decisions should be made: Venues for the formal

、course sessions (classroom and shooting range preferably indoor) Due to the course training being 6 days it is recommended that a Lead tutor be identified and available and has agreed dates with CA. (See course application form) Dates for the formal training sessions (recommended to be six days with

、 additional homework adding up to 50 hours of formal training) plus a practical assessment day. It is recommended that course sessions be spread over a period of about 3 months. E.g. if sessions are on single days then they should be 2 -3 weeks apart. If the course is run as 3 weekends, then the wee

、kends should be 4-5 weeks apart. Planning meeting /s (who will do what, when and where) What costs you will incur (central course fee, tutor and assessor fee, facility and equipment hire, administration fees, refreshments and incidentals etc) What funding grants you can obtain to subsidise costs e.g

、. from your County Association, County Sport Partnership or Local Authority.3.2.1 Facilities and Resource GuideThe learning environment is extremely important and care should be taken when booking a venue to ensure that it is suitable for Learners in terms of space, access and comfort. Ideally the s

、hooting venue and classroom will be near each other to facilitate going from one location to the other easily. Toilets and refreshments should be accessible to theoretical and practical training venues.Any practical training or assessment site and equipment must meet the requirements of accepted saf

The following equipment and environment is recommended for practical and theoretical training.Practical training1) A secure shooting range facility: To have a minimum shooting length of 10 metres spaced at 2.5 meter centres and at

The dates must be pre-booked with the appropriate venues and the information made known t

、o Learners before they book onto the course. The minimum duration permitted for the formal aspect of the Learner training is 36 hours and the session times should be arranged to reflect this. Due to the need for consistency in the delivery of the course it is recommended that a lead tutor is identif

、ied and available on all tutor dates. This is agreed between the Lead tutor and the Course administrator with the NCEM who are all aware of this arrangement.3.2.3 The Learning ProgrammeThe Lead Tutor determines how the learning programme is arranged. It is essential that all of the sessions within t

The Lead Tutor has the responsibility, for ensuring that the course programme fully covers all of the detailed training requirements. For additional program planning guidance, reference should be made to the rec

、nistration Handbook 7Version 1.5 (October 2012)To allow the course to be registered with Archery GB the amount the Learner is required to pay to attend the course (Learner fee) needs to be calculated by the CA. This will allow the course to be published on the Archery GB website. To calculate the Lea

、rner fee, the CA must identify the expenditure that will be incurred and the likely income or funding that can be used to offset this (e.g. obtaining a minimum number of applicants, receiving financial support from the Region / County). It is essential to consider the following mandatory expenditures

、 that will be incurred on every course:1) Central course fee: A standard fee payable to Archery GB by the CA. Archery GB should receive this payment in one lump sum.
