3、d service policies.The advisor, under the direction of the service manager, is responsible for supporting and facilitating the development of Intermediate Stop Smoking Services.Communication and Working RelationshipsThe smoking cessation advisor is required to communicate both pro-actively and react
4、ively using both verbal and non-verbal skills; primarily with colleagues, clients and user groups and secondarily with professional and non-professional groups predominantly at local level and occasionally at regional level. These include:Clients, colleagues service manager, advisors, service admini
5、strator and administrative / telephone support workers, specialist health promotion service staff, affiliated intermediate stop smoking advisors, other smoking cessation organisations, health interest groups, primary and secondary care services including direct contact with General Practitioners, co
6、mmunity based health care providers, dentists, pharmacists, occupational health staff, and the general public.Communication processes include; client contact, delivery of smoking cessation programmes to client group through 1-1, rolling support programmes and telephone, attendance and active partici

9、t in order to meet client and service needs and achieve organisational deadlines. To include the provision of evening clinics and weekend working in line with service needs. . Use of appropriate models, skills and underpinning theoretical knowledge to facilitate and support smokers who are motivated
10、 and ready to quit their addiction to tobacco in a range of settings using; rolling support, micro group, individual and telephone interventions. Required to employ a high level of inter personal skills to; identify individual smokers needs, overcome barriers to understanding by rationalising comple
11、x, sensitive and contentious information, using motivational and empathic counselling skills, build ongoing and supportive relationships, to influence and empower clients to change attitude and in turn behaviour thereby enabling them to quit their addiction to tobacco. Through the process of analysi
12、s and interpretation of data, evolve tailored evidence based care programmes to meet the needs of smokers, especially those from socially and economically disadvantaged communities. To interact with smokers with a range of emotional needs, accept own limitations, have knowledge of the range of other
13、 service remits both within and without the NHS and wherever necessary and with the clients consent direct or signpost them to other agencies in order that their needs can be addressed. Responsible for the safe custody of client records and carrying out associated administrative procedures to suppor
14、t practice by maintaining clear and accurate client records including the timely completion of client intake and monitoring forms, course registers, course evaluation forms, notification letters to GPs NRT vouchers, requests for supporting materials from administrative support worker. Routine mainte
15、nance and the checking and calibration of carbon monoxide monitors in line with service schedules to ensure validity of quits in line with Department of Health guidelines. To undertake basic needs assessment activities and report findings, to ensure that the service remains responsive, appropriate a
16、nd accessible using formal evaluation processes and informal feedback from clients and user groups. Contribute to the maintenance of a directory of venues for service use ensuring that they meet service and client needs paying particular notice to the requirements for safe environment, choice and ac
17、cess to services in accordance with health service policy. Additionally, working in collaboration with the admin team schedule smoking cessation programmes and review/ relapse sessions and book suitable venues, ensuring optimal cost effectiveness directing any associated correspondence to the Stop S
18、moking Service Manager. Maintain contact with clients within specific time frames, provide timely feed back to respective administrative telephone support workers on outcomes in order to facilitate administrative processes and optimise attendance on programmes. 19、ementation, and review of service policy, protocols, quality standards, and monitoring activities governing smoking cessation practice in the local area. Adopting new technologies and frameworks of operation that the result from this process so that the service can meet its obligations to facilitate
20、 improvement, expansion and reform in response to changing needs and health service policy. 22、ffiliated intermediate stop smoking advisors to enable them to deliver effective stop smoking programmes within health and community settings in accordance with the Department of Health monitoring and guidance criteria. To work pro-actively with other team members to maintain efficient and effective
23、 stop smoking programmes for smokers resident in the local area. To develop and regularly update specialist knowledge on the use of pharmacotherapy to support smokers quit attempts Nicotine Replacement Therapy, Bupropion & Varenicline, to enable the giving of expert advice with appropriate adaptatio
24、n to health and allied professionals, community groups and the general public. In order to maintain a positive profile of the service within the local community, facilitate access and referral to the services community and smoking and pregnancy programmes; pro-actively promote the services and the r
25、eferral pathways via; collaborative working with established user groups, identifying new referral sources, daily opportunistic contact activity, local health events, presentations, training events and the preparation and submission of media releases under the control of the smoking cessation servic
26、e manager.
