Teaching Process: i. Unit overviewApplication lettersReading: Ss read an advertisement for a secretarial job and answer qu

Ss then order an applicants notes about the advertisement.Language focus: Ss Match typical application letter language with the notes.Writing: Ss work in pairs and write the applicants letter ofapplication.Attending an interviewListening: Ss transform the interviewers notes into polite ques

16、tions. They then listen to the interview and compare the questions used. Ss listen again and write down the applicants answers to the questions.Language focus: Ss review the form and use of indirect questions.Speaking: Ss ask and polite questions in pairs in order to fill in their partners applicati

26、n the interview. T focuses on the functions of polite questions. Note:Polite questions enable the speaker to be polite and relatively distant, as in a formal interview with strangers. Also indirect question questions can be used for potentially embarrassing or difficult information-gathering. Polite

27、 indirect questions are particularly useful when a new topic is being introduced but they are unlikely to be useful for follow-up questions.
