This picture portrays some idle university students. They get addicted to the Internet, skip classes, do business or participate in star-selecting competitions, totally ignoring their study.

Some of them are afraid of hardness, so they play truant or get addicted to the Internet to shift the academic burden. Others are fascinated by the legends of certain successful businessmen or actors and attempt to pursue overnight success. Whatever the reasons are, thei

、r behaviors are not recommendable. Since basic knowledge is the prerequisite for any achievements, those who ignore study in university will have little chance to succeed in the long run. In my opinion, these stude

、nts should realize that acquiring knowledge is their main task. Only when a person accumulates enough knowledge and experience, can he get somewhere. Therefore, university students should concentrate on their studies to accomplish the task of

、 storing knowledge and prepare to overcome the potential obstacles in the journey of learning. Water is pumping out through the hole in the cracked barrel, wetting the ground. Next to the

、 barrel, a broken iron chain is painfully moaning that it couldnt bear the strain. In the two similar scenes, the barrel and the iron chain cant perform their function effectively because of their weak points. How well a thing can perform is decided by its weak

、nesses. This theory can insightfully explain why it is theoretically not a wise idea to separate science and arts disciplines in schools. The students influenced by the separation are quite likely to have unbalanced development and their achievements

、will be limited due to their ignorance of certain subjects. The unwise decisions of some so-called experts can prove the above point. With little knowledge of other domains, they only resorted to basic theories of their own fields to solve

、 complicated problems and their one-sided remedies eventually caused great losses. As mentioned above, the final decisive factor of success is usually not your performance in what you are best at, but what you are worst at. Therefor

、e, we should not only develop our advantages but also strive to overcome our weaknesses to constantly perfect ourselves. Seeing a big stone and some footprints around it, the hiker in the above picture seems to witness a man

、 falling down. He cant help murmuring to himself with a deep frown, “some people may have tumbled over the stone and I should circumvent it”.- 2 -这幅图画所展示的道理是:从别人的错误中学习,我们可以避免走弯路,从而加快自己的成功.This picture instructs us in a fine philosophy of life-learning from others mistakes, one can avoid detours and

、accelerate his own success. Worsening environmental pollution can exemplify this point. The developed countries promoted economic growth at the cost of environment and had to spend a lot of money solving the consequent se

、rious pollution. Regretfully, such an expensive mistake is repeated in some developing countries. Thus, it can be seen that it is important and necessary to learn from another mans cost. Whenever seeing others blundering, we should remind ourselves

、 not to repeat the same mistake. In the vivid picture, a person described a tadpole-like creature to another person, who quickly spread through Internet th

、is message along with his own imagination and exaggeration. This online message, traveling from one person to another, evolved into a sensational story that a man witnessed a dinosaur. This thought-provoking cartoon warns us that in the Internet era, people should learn to verify the truth of the he

、arsay rather than believe it without thinking. The history of gossip is as old as human kind itself. However, no age could parallel the Internet age in the speed, range and the diversity of ways of spreading

、 rumors. Advanced network technology has provided people with many intercommunication tools, which can accelerate the diffusion of rumors. To curb the disruptive influence of o

、nline gossip, relevant authorities should mete out punishment to those intentionally disseminating rumors through the Internet and help clarify the truth timely to clear the air of doubt. In regard to common net users, while enjoying the convenience and freedom of the Internet, they shouldnt spread

、the idle or malicious gossip. They also need to give the hearsay careful thought, because an old saying teaches us “rumor stops when it comes to a wise person”.Text 5:这幅图画所反映的事实是,抄袭已经成为一个严重的社会问题. Just as the picture shows, plagiarism has become a serious problem in China. A

、 series of academic scandals revealed these years clearly illustrate this point. Some think the root cause of academic corruption is that some scholars fish for fame and compliments at the expense of basic academic moral standards.

、 Others put the blame on the existing evaluation system, which emphasizes the quantity of papers rather than quality. Whatever the reason is, to maintain academic purity has become an urgent task. Academic circle is calling for ethical academic image

、 and strict regulations on scientific misconduct. In the picture, an old man bought some eggs and paid 100 Yuan to the woman seller. The woman examined the paper money care

、fully, fearing that it was forged. Suspecting that the eggs were artificial, the old man checked their quality with caution. They both cast doubts on each other. The drawing mirrors a current social phenomenon about the gradual loss of trust among people.

、造和销售假冒伪劣产品;为了提高收视率,一些媒体毫无责任感地散播耸人听闻的故事,甚至扭曲新闻事实来吸引公众的注意;为了自身利益,一些个人购买虚假证书,而这反过来又滋长了更多的不法行为.A host of dishonest behaviors should be responsible for the crisis of trust in our society. To earn huge profit, some businessmen manufacture or sell fake and inferior goods at the cost of consumers interests;

、 for the purpose of improving the ratings, the media may peddle the sensational stories or even twist the news to attract public attention; in order to gain personal benefit, some people buy bogus certificates and so forth, which will in turn promote illegal acts.

It is apparent that, if left unchecked, the trust crisis will lead to the corruption of public morals and incur irredeemable financial losses. Therefore, government is suggested to strengthen regulation a

、nd promote honesty with the joining efforts of the media. And if people truly value trust, they should make every effort to keep their promises and boycott the fakes. In this way, our society will eventually return to sincerity and faith, as trust begets trust.

What is portrayed in the above picture is a scene of offering ones seat to an old man, which should have been a praiseworthy action. However, if you take a closer look at this cartoon, you will find th

、at the person who gave up his seat was also an aged man. On the contrary, many youngsters sitting around watched silently, with little intention of asking the two elder men to be seated. The picture reveals a thought-provoking phenomenon in our daily life the lack of moral sense in the younger gener

、ation. 这是因为很多人在采取行动之前总是在问自己这样一个问题: “这么做对我有什么好处?”Along with the economic development of our society, people tend to put more attention on self-interest, talking less about the spirit of sacrifice, contribution, mutual aid and so forth. The reason lies in the

、 fact that young people, before taking any action, always ask themselves a question what benefits could be brought to me? Since the future of our nation is dependent on the young generation, they might learn to

、 sacrifice their short-term personal interests for the sake of the common good. Just as the saying goes, “all for one, one for all”, the spirit of which is not outdated and need to be remembered and implemented by the young generation.

The above picture vividly portrays a bird who fell on the ground heavily after he had passed through three cages representing primary school, middle school and college respectively. It is rather ironic that the bird, after acquiring plenty of knowledge of flying from

、 schools, couldnt flap his wings to soar high in the sky. The same is true of todays college graduates. Many of them have acquired a certain amount of professional knowhow but cant pu

、t it into practice. After graduation, they suddenly find out that, without practical experience, it is difficult for them to hunt an ideal job in the fiercely competitive society. This sorrowful event, just like an alarm bell, warns us to reexamine our education mechanism.

To prevent our graduates from turning to be the above-mentioned birds, officials and educators should cooperate to convert the cage-like institutions into places where students can absorb knowledge as well as apply t

、heir learning into practice. However, as known to all, the reform wont be finished in a single day. So students have to realize that they need to seize every opportunity to train their practical capabilities. From what has been discuss

、ed above, we may conclude that if people hope their children to be cultured and well-behaved, they should attach great importance to family education and set a good example through their own actions. The overly-practical and

、 shortsighted attitude of some parents may in fact impede the growth of their children. If the children dont have the aptitude for what they are learning, they will be discouraged by frequent failures and then probably lose their self-confidence. It means those children wont believe in their potenti

、als and thus can hardly achieve great success. Life, just as the caption below indicates, is a process of continuous self-improvement. In other words, only thro

、ugh constant self-improvement can one live a fulfilling life. Lets imagine a person who stopped learning new things at a young age. His knowledge is limited, his thoughts are outdated and his life will be just a simple repetition of his previous experience. In contrast, those accomplished persons al

、ways attribute the success to their efforts to improve themselves. There is no shortcut to success and perseverance and determination paves the way to it. Just like the cartoon shows, we have to take the sweat in order to reap any harvest in our l

、ife. The above picture portrays a ridiculous scene: a high jumper, with sweat dropping from his forehead, is encouraging himself to clear a crossbar, but unfortunately he is heading towards a wrong d

、irection. Obviously, his endeavor cant bring him a successful jump and his doomed failure exemplifies the life wisdom that the correct direction is the prerequisite for success.

If we want to succeed, we should first properly orientate ourselves. Otherwise, the harder we try, the further we stray from our original goals. The same lesson can be drawn from an ancient Chinese story, which is about a man who went towards - 5 -north to reach a place in the sout

、h direction. The man never cares about his wrong route but kept on boasting about his horse and his driving skills. Actually such mistakes also happen in our daily lives. For example, some college graduates engage a blind chase for jobs without a careful career plan. No matter how much effort they p

、ut in, they may never realize their dreams of success for the lack of focus and clear direction. From the above analysis, we can reach the conclusion that we should always remind ourselves to follow the right direction. Only when we are walking on

、 the correct route, will our endeavors assure us of great reward. A boy in the above picture fell on his knees, trembling with fear, when confronting something difficult. In his mind, the difficult task was

、 a gigantic monster from whom he could not withstand a single blow. However, contrary to his assumption, the obstacle was not as huge as he assumed and he could well stride over it. Many people let their negative thinking take control of themselves. They overestimate the difficulty and get frightened, eventually losing some precious opportunities. However, people with positive mind will embrace challenges because they hold a firm belief that action is the best way to conquer difficulties.Tex
