There may be several GOOD answers, but only one is the BEST.,Stimulus Question Stem Answer Choices,Memorize these nine steps and use them EVERY tim

3、e you attempt a CR GMAT question!,Does the stimulus contain an argument? Find the conclusion and premises. Conclusion: “What does the author want me to believe?” Premises: “Why should I believe? What is the evidence?”,If the stimulus contains an argument (75% OF GMAT stimuli do) find the conclusion.

4、 Use premise and conclusion indicators as clues. If the stimulus contains a fact set, read each fact carefully.,Weak argument: “The Jacksonville area has just over 1 million residents. The New York area has almost 20 million residents. Therefore, we should move to Jacksonville.” Strong argument: “Tr

5、ees that shed their foliage annually are deciduous trees. Black Oak trees shed their leaves every year. Therefore, Black Oak trees are deciduous.”,GMAT authors write EXACTLY what they mean. Do NOT generalize. Pay special attention to quantity indicators and probability indicators.,Must Be True Main

6、Point Assumption Strengthen/Support Resolve the Paradox Weaken,Method of Reasoning Flaw in the Reasoning Parallel Reasoning Evaluate the Argument,AFTER you have read the stimulus and question stem, but BEFORE you read the answer choices, formulate an answer in your head. If you read the answer choic

7、es first, you are likely to be tempted by a good, but incorrect, answer.,There may be several answer choices that look possible, but only one is correct. Remember that you must choose the BEST answer. If you choose the first good answer, you might never even read the correct answer!,As you read the

8、answer choices, sort them into contenders and losers. Dont waste time debating a contender until you have read ALL of the answer choices. After you have evaluated all 5 choices, reread the contenders to choose an answer. Return to the stimulus for proof if needed.,If all 5 answer choices appear to b

9、e losers, return to the stimulus and re-evaluate the argument. Remember, all of the information you need is in the stimulus.
