What can I do for you?Can you make a cake? can 用在否定句和疑问句中时有时表示说话人的 “猜测”或 “不肯定”。 例如:Where can he be? Can the news be true?(在日常会话中,can 可代替

6、may 表示”允许” ,may 比较正式) 2. could 是 can 的过去式,表示过去有过的能力和可能性,还有怀疑和不肯定的意思(在否定和疑问句中)。 例如:The doctor said he could help him(能力)She couldnt skate when she was five years old. 15、识,小组合作完成 4a 4b ,并讨论核对答案。四点播总结情态动词表推测情态动词的用法有很多,表推测的用法更为重要。表推测的情态动词有 must,can/could, may/might 等,情态动词表推测可以分为以下几种情况:1. must 用在肯定句中,表示肯定推测,意为“ 一定”。(1)must+do 表示对现在的状态或情况的肯定推测。 The book must belong to Carla.(2)must+be doing 表小对现在正在进行的情况的肯定推测。 They must be making a movie now.(3)must+have done 表示对过去情况的肯定推

It must have rained last night.2. may/might/could+do 表示“可能”的推测。此时,might, could 不是过去式,而是表示委婉的语气。这三个词用于肯定推测时,意为“可能”;用于否定推测时,may not 和 might not 意为“可能不,也许不” ;而 could not 意为“不可能。”(1)may/might/could+do 表示对现在的状态或情况的可能性的推测。This word might not mean“worried”.(2)may/might/could+be doing 表示对
