We have celebrated the festival since the first pioneers from England arrived in America.,（1）含义：在复合句中，由时间连接词引导的表示时间的状语从句叫作时间状语从句。连接时间状语从句的连接词有：when, before, after, while, as soon as, until, since等。,（2）常见的时间状语从句：1）when引导的从句表示主句的动作和从句的动作同时发生或者先后发生。如：When she came in, I was eating.
3、她进来时，我正在吃东西。When I lived in the countryside, I used to carry some water for him.我住在农村时，我常常为他担水。,2）while引导的从句表示“当时”，强调主句的动作在从句动作进行的过程中发生。由于while从句表示一个持续的行为，所以从句中要用延续性动词，并且延续性动词常用进行时态。如：Dont make any noise while I am recording.我在录音时（你们）别发出噪音。,while还可用作并列连词，意为“而；然而”，表示对比。如：Some people waste food while
4、others havent enough to eat.有些人浪费食物，然而有些人却吃不饱。3）before引导的从句一般表示主句的动作发生在从句动作之前。如：I didnt know any English before I came here.我来这儿之前，一点英语都不懂。,4）after引导的从句表示主句的动作发生在从句动作之后。如：After he locked the door, he left. 他锁上门后就走了。5）since引导的从句表示“自从以来”，从句中的动词表示动作的起点，常用一般过去时。主句中的动词表示动作延续的情况，一般用现在完成时。其常用结构如下：,A. 主句（现在

It be/has been+一段时间+since+从句。如：It is/has been two years since I became a postgraduate student我成为研究生已有两年了。,6）until引导的从句A. 表示“直到”，主句和从句都用肯定式。如：They worked until it was late.他们一直工作到天黑。B. 表示“直到才”，主句用否定式，从句用肯定式。如：She didnt go to bed
