But just ahead hidden amongst sea grape trees stood a run-down house that seemed to be out of repair for years. It appeared to be unoccupied. Curious, they went t

9、o investigate.,The front steps to the doorway of the house creaked as they carefully climbed them up, so did the porch when they stepped onto it. The dusty windows and porch railing were badly weathered and broken. The front door was half open, so they squeezed through and consciously entered. The p

10、lace was in a total mess, covered with dust, sand, dead leaves, and overturned furniture. Theyd taken, but a few steps when the door unexpectedly slammed shut behind them.,Scared, Krin and Paula were frozen to the spot. But before they could even utter something like “Oh- oh,” the windows abruptly c

11、losed, too. And if this wasnt scary enough, the stairs to the second floor cracked loudly. When a light in the back bedroom flickered, that was absolutely the final straw. Almost uncontrollably he made one step closer to her, and just at this moment he saw a woman well past 40, wearing a red rose. 26、 40 that wore the red rose. Gazing at the girl walking away, I felt at a loss. I tried to persuade myself that it was shallow to focus on ones appearance more than on the spirit. With a broad smile, I approached the woman, “Dear Mrs. Hollis Maynell. May I take your time?” The woman smiled, “I dont k

27、now what this is about, son.” Confusion filling in my mind, I couldnt figure out her meaning. She continued to say, “Actually Im not the one you looking for, but the girl who wore my green suit insisted on exchanging clothes with me.” In a split second, I realized what was going on. The girl in gree

28、n turned around at the corner and walked back to me. From her, I learned we should care more about the heart instead of the appearance.,The girl was walking quickly away. But the old woman was waiting. John was shocked and suspected that the old woman was the right person he wanted to meet. It was r

29、eally an embrassing situation. John gazed at the book in his hands, thinking whether he should call her. Shortly after, John bravely get close to the old woman and said, “I am John. That rose means you are Miss Hollis Maynell, right? You look like old but I dont care.” The woman smiled, “I dont know

30、 what this is about, son.” It was a young woman with a green suit that give me the red rose.” John stood there, feeling very ashamed. To his surprise, that means the young woman who he firstly noticed was Miss Hollis Maynell. In a split second, a beautiful woman with a green suit ran to John and sai

31、d. “You success passing the test which I set on purpose. Having trust in you is right.” John lowered his head but smiled happily.,The girl was walking quickly away. John felt that he was at a complete loss. So eager was he to follow that girl. However, he was longing for the woman whose spirit truly

32、 impressed him a lot. Therefore, he went straight to the woman without hesitation. With a broad smile, he said, “Im John and you must be Miss Hollis Maynell. Im glad to meet you. May I take you to dinner.” The woman smiled, “I dont know what this is about, son.” She complained. “It is the young girl

33、 in the green suit that asked me to wear this rose. And she said if you were to invite me to dinner, I should tell you that she is waiting for you in the restaurant next to the station. Besides, she also said it was a kind of test.” An excited feeling bubbled up inside Ally. For a moment John couldnt believe it, but it was true. Overwhelmed with happiness, he rushed to the restaurant.
