The inventors of corrugated fiberboard applied this same principle to paper when they put arches in the corrugated medium（瓦楞芯纸

These arches are known as flutes （楞）and when anchored to the linerboard with adhesive, they resist bending and pressure from all directions.When a piece of combined board is placed on its end, the arches form rigid columns, capable of supporting a great deal of weight. When pressure is applied to
6、 the side of the board, the space in between the flutes acts as a cushion（垫子） to protect the containers contents. The flutes also serve as an insulator (绝缘体, 绝热器,保温层）, providing some product protection from sudden temperature changes. At the same time, the vertical linerboard provides even more stre

A-flute （A楞）was the first to be developed. B-flute was the next and is much smaller than A-flute. C-flute followed and is between A an
8、d B in size. It is also the most common large flute profile. E-flute is smaller than B and F-flute is smaller yet. Due to variances in flute sizes between manufacturers, FBA no longer publishes flute guidelines.In addition to these five most common profiles, new flute profilesboth larger and smaller
9、 than those listed hereare being created for more specialized boards. Generally, larger flute profiles deliver greater vertical compression strength （垂直压力）and cushioning, while smaller profiles provide better resistance to process and printing crush.Different flute profiles can be combined in one pi

11、d board.纸品术语根据纤维板箱协会的网上资料，把有关Sack kraft：牛皮纸袋纸 由硫酸盐浆生产的纸，绝大多数是未漂的，也可用回收的OCC及DLK 生产。Envelope：信封纸 由纯牛皮浆或仿牛皮浆，经过漂白及染色而生产的纸。SteriliZed Paper：消毒纸 用牛皮浆生产，从全漂MG 牛皮纸，到更复杂的起皱的纸。Multi wall：多层纸袋纸 由一些厚的或由几层纸（2-6层）、一层套一层而制成的纸袋纸水泥袋纸。Extensible：伸性 纸 一种可伸展的纸，在张力的情况下可以伸展，并可快速释放出应力。可制成起皱或不起皱的二种形式。Commodity bag：商品用纸袋纸
12、以牛皮浆回收废纸生产的一种较轻的纸的品种。近来也蒙受到以塑料替代的可观的损失。Oneside Coated：单面涂布纸 为了装饰或改善质量，需要提高 单面质量的纸。Wet strength paper：湿强度纸 高抗湿性纸或需要高抗气候的 纸，常用于生产多层纸袋。Corrugating medium：瓦楞原纸 作为瓦楞纸箱的中间层的材料。Testliner:全废纸挂面箱纸板 是挂面纸板的一个品种，大部分是利用回收纤维生产，有时挂一层牛皮浆。Kraftliner：牛皮挂面 纸板 作为 瓦楞纸箱挂面材料的标准名称。用牛皮浆及牛皮浆生产的品种所产生的各种废料，如损纸及切边等，可用到40以上。Wet
13、strength board：湿强度纸板 一种高强度及防潮的纸板。Mottled liner：斑点挂面 纸板 多 层挂面纸板挂有一层薄的漂白浆，使产品呈有斑点的外观。Colored top liner：彩色面层挂面纸板 彩色或染色面层的多层挂面纸板。用于瓦楞纸箱内层的挂面纸板或作为装饰瓦楞纸箱的外层挂面纸板。White top liner：白纸板 面层为漂白纸浆的多层挂面纸板，使装饰的瓦楞纸箱具有完全白的外观。基本上是牛皮箱纸板或废纸箱纸板。Whiteline chiPboard:挂面白纸板 基本上是盒用纸板，面层是漂白浆，其他各层是废纸。Uulined chiPboard：不挂面纸板 是最基
14、本的品种，大量用于具有一定质量的组合箱纸盒的底层衬板。Newshack：旧报纸底箱纸板 在北美有时用100的旧报纸，作为箱纸板的底层，故用此名。Greyback：灰底箱 纸板 也可称不挂面纸板，是用一层或多层废纸做的。Carrier：装 载纸板 用原生未漂纤维生产的全未漂牛皮纸盒纸板。Manila back：马 尼拉底箱纸板 一种多层纸板，中间层是使用未漂纤维。White back：白底箱 纸板 多层纸板，中间层使用半漂漂白纤维。Graphic art：文化艺术纸板 可参考全漂白纸板、白底折叠纸盒纸板或有些定量较重的纸的品种。Solid bleached：单一漂白浆纸板 用100漂白牛皮浆生产
15、的高质量纸板，用于质量首位重要的奢侈品的包装。Solid unbleached：单一未漂浆纸板 用未漂化学浆生产，为了印刷的目的，面层可改成白色的。纸板强度特大，用于那些对撕力和耐破有重要要求的地方。Closure/bottle cap：密闭瓶盖纸板 用原生纤维做的纸板，需达到一定的消毒及物理性能的要求。一般随后要经加工过程。Cup stock：纸杯纸板 由一层或多层原生漂白纸浆制成，涂以蜡或聚乙烯。Water resistant：防水纸板 加助剂（表部或表面）防水制成不同品种的纸板。Grease resistant：防油纸板 用氟化学品加到纸板内部或在施胶 压榨上进行处理，或以聚乙烯或水剂涂
16、料进行复合涂布。Liquid packaging：液体包装纸板 由牛皮浆制成。应无气味，用多聚化合物载体涂布或以铝箔复合。Juice boxboard：果汁纸盒纸板 以一层或多层漂白化学浆制成与聚乙 烯铝箔涂布复合Milk carton：牛奶纸盒纸板 全牛皮纸盒纸板，与液体包装纸 板有相同的特性。Kraft papers：牛皮纸 用硫酸盐化学浆配比生产的高强度的纸。Imitation kraft papers：仿牛皮纸 与牛皮纸相似的纸，但以其他代用品替代牛皮浆的配比。Linerboard：挂面 纸板 牛皮挂面 纸板、箱纸板及以废纸为主的挂面纸板作为瓦楞纸箱的面层和底层，中间层为瓦楞纸。Flu
17、ting: 瓦楞纸 在欧洲及全球市场，都把瓦楞纸箱的中间一层叫做瓦楞纸。在北美，瓦楞是指有几层瓦楞，使用的术语是瓦楞原纸。Folding boxboard：折叠纸盒纸板 由盒用纸板做成的包装箱。折平后运输，有时还上胶。折叠纸盒纸板是在包装线上进 行组装、填料和封口。Setup boxes：组合纸箱 由不需折叠的纸板的品种制成坚挺的包装箱，输送出去，即能使用。Corrugated board：瓦楞纸板 以一层或二层挂面纸板（单面或双面的）和中间层的瓦楞纸，制成包装的材料。Foodboard：包装食品纸板 一般的术语，用于包装食品及饮料的各种不同品种的 纸板。Solid fiber-board：单一纤维纸板 用几层（一般多于5层）粗纸板压在一起，单面或双面衬以牛皮挂面纸板或废纸挂面纸板。
