11、re are some tips to help you remember faces and names. Look at the persons eyes. The face itself, and especially the eyes, contain the window not just to the soul, but to good face memory. The eyes are a feature of a person least likely to vary over time or under different circumstances. Apart from

12、the aging process, peoples eyes dont really change and youll be less tricked by changes in hair length or color, clothing, and even body shape and height. Use “deep” processing of information. When youre trying to learn a word list, for instance, you should not just look at the words, or even think

13、about how they sound. You tend to put those words in a sentence or form your own associations to them, no matter how oddball they may seem. When it comes to faces, this is a trick that memory experts strongly advise. Form associations between a persons name and that persons face (particularly the ey

14、es). Think of what the name reminds you of (“Tina” might turn into “tea”), and paste that association onto the persons face. Really listen when youre introduced to someone new. So often were distracted when we meet a new person that we might not even catch the name at all. If youre at a large party

15、or other social scene, you might not even hear the name very clearly. Afterwards, you dont have to be embarrassed about asking for a persons name a second time (or even third). Dr Alastair Sutcliffe, who worked on the study, said, “We have clear evidence that there are more desirable outcomes for children of older mothers compared with younger ages. We can make these older women sure that

30、 their children are probably better off.” The Wellcome Foundation-funded study looked at 1,100 children born to women aged 40 and over, compared with 38,000 children born to younger women in Britain. The childrens ages ranged from nine months to five years.Children of older mothers were less likely

31、to be in accidents or need hospital admission, and were no more at risk of obesity. Dr Sutcliffe said older mothers might be less risky, possibly because they were less active and unable to run after their children, but they may also be better at spotting and avoiding potentially risky situations.
