Repair materials Gelcoat/Topcoat
2、resin(the color is the same as that of the original surface)Fire-retardant polyester resinE-glass chopped strand mat: 300g/m2 / 450g/m2E-glass woven rovings: 600g/m22. Repair Method2.1 Inspection for damageGrind the damaged areas and observe the damage condition. If the damage only appear in the gel
3、coat layer, repair method is referring to method 1,and if not, repair method is referring to method 2. 2.2 Repair method 1 1) When the damaged gelcoat layer has been removed, clean up the surface, then apply new gelcoat resin, and keep the thickness about0.3-0.4mm.2) After the gelcoat resin cured, g
4、rind the surface and clear away thepowders. Then apply topcoat resin again. Make the topcoat surface a bithigher than its close-by areas.3) When the topcoat resin has completely cured, then grind the surface byuse of 400#, 600#, 800# and 1000# water-proof sand paper respectively. Polish the repair s
5、urface with woolen wheel lastly. 2.3 Repair method 21) Grind the damaged areas to form a sloped taper (pls refer to the following figure), and clean up the surface. 2) Laminate the GRP layers by using chopped strand mat of 450g/m2 and woven rovings of 600g/m2 alternately, till the new laminating sur
6、face is a little lower than its close-by areas. During the laminating process, the 2mats and rovings should be cut layer by layer according to size of the taper. And bear in mind that the last layer should be the mat of 300g/m2. 3) When the repair laminating layers has completely cured, grind the surface and clear away the powders.
