There are various kinds of useful resources available on the screen through the Internet for language learners. There are certain skills in searching for information on the Interne

3、t, and some helpful websites are offered.Key words: Fine Art English, the Internet, materials, website1.Why should Fine Art English be taught and learned? Fine Art English is very important to Chinese artists and students who practice any of the fine arts, such as Oil painting, Sculpture and Animati

4、on Art. etc. Knowing it may mean: learning smoothly the artistry of many west classics masters, because of as the main method of learning to Chinese artists and students, almost every original picture album and works of the West Fine Arts in libraries and book stores is in English; a chance to atten

5、d international exhibition to introduce ones works; the opportunity to go abroad; getting a good job. In a word, it can affect peoples careers and possible futures. But few years ago, Fine Art English was neglected by most of fine arts institutions in china for some historical or other reasons. Ther

6、e was no Fine Art English course in any fine art institution. As it turned out, most of students had very few chances to study Fine Art English from classroom at the time.In these years, Fine Art English has attracted more interest and awareness in some fine art Institutions. For this reason, the mi

7、nimum mark of English for enrolment is increasing constantly. English courses for Arts are offered by some schools, and more students spend more time to study it willingly. Unfortunately, there are few special teaching materials (e.g. textbooks, dictionaries of fine art, etc) which are offered to te

8、achers and students. Whats more, many of these materials have some misunderstandings created by editors or translators whose major are not fine art (The Last Supper painted by Leonardo da Vinci is a fresco in the Refectory of Monastery of Santa Maria della Grazie in Italy. But in almost every teachi

9、ng material in china, its misinterpreted as oil painting. Everyone whose major is fine art knows that there is a great distance between the fresco and the oil painting, for example). 2What should teachers and students do? Undoubtedly, CALL (Computer-Assisted Language Learning) is their the first and

Similarly, to other foreign language teaching and learning, it plays a very important role In todays educational world,2.Why the CALL is the best choice?Computer-assisted language learning (CALL) is an approach to language teaching and learning in which computer technology and the Inte

11、rnet are used as the aids to the presentation, reinforcement and assessment of material to be learned, usually including a substantial interactive element. It is quite different from other traditional teaching approaches in that it emphasizes guiding learners to learn language themselves through com

12、puters, and explores the most effective result by combining teaching contents, teaching processes and computers in a most effective way. Here are some advantages for the emerging of CALL in Fine Art English teaching and learning.Firstly, as an advanced teaching media, computers can provide interacti

13、on between teachers and learners on screens, and learners can get immediate feedback from computers. At the same time, learners may get individualize guidance from the teacher.Secondly, multimedia and hyperlinks make rich and various presentation of knowledge, which can evoke learners greater intere

14、st and motivation for learning; and provide synthetic stimulus of many senses (visual, audio, oral, etc),enlarge the quantity of information input and improves learners memory.Thirdly, computers can build not only individualized learning environment, but can also create the circumstance for collabor

15、ative learning, so that learners may learn from each other in and out classroom, and their ability of cooperating with others may be greatly improved.Fourthly, CALL may help heighten learners creativity for computers and the Internet provide learners with a rich resource of knowledge and information

16、, which can enrich their imagination and support their exploration of ideas.As CALL is developing, and it is stepping from behavioristic. CALL and communicative CALL toward its third phase-Integrative CALL: Multimedia and the Internet, we see CALL is becoming an important tool in classrooms. However

17、, for language learners, learning how to make use of CALL facilitates their language learning out of classroom. And this is even more important than in classroom. This is because: time is limited for classroom learning. 3Therefore, individual study, most specifically learning on the Internet is one

18、of the best choices for language learners.3.How the Internet is used by teachers to teach ?The answer is that guiding the students use the Internet properly to study independently. Its simplest? No, its difficulties. As a teacher, we should know what kind of learning materials on the Internet and te

19、ll students how could they use these varied resources.3.1 Whats on the Internet?Firstly, there are various websites where tons of original fine art reading materials for students can be found and downloaded. Many famous museums and galleries have their own gallery of fine art on line, countless mast

20、erpieces are exhibited. Besides, there are also a lot of courses of arts on line for teaching the artistry and improving ones appreciation of art. Certainly, almost of everything is in English, accurately, its in Fine Art English. Secondly, as many schools, universities, libraries have their own web

21、sites on the Internet, its quite convenient for student to look for the information about art with search engines; furthermore, they can show the photos of their works on line to communicate with others in English. It can improve their reading and writing English effectively.Thirdly, as the most imp

22、ortant feature of todays CALL lies in its multimedia form of technology, a variety of media-text, graphics, sound, animation and video, reading, writing, speaking and listening possible on the computer and on the Internet. A language learner can either choose an integrated exercise of the four skill

23、s or focus on any one of the four to strengthen their weak parts in language learning.For all of these diverse materials and information, not only teacher have enough original resources to use, but also students have their own control over their learning. They can go at their own pace and go on thei

24、r own individual path, they can stop anywhere they would like to have a glance, and skip any part they dont want to read. Students are really free to travel on the Internet.However, there exist several problems in the management. From our own experience and observation, especially our experience on

25、the Internet, we want to mention the problems that we have encountered.Due to the limit of bandwidth, searching materials on the Internet is not always 4easy, the speed of web is slow at the present, and the connection is often cut off. Sometimes the target web page cant be shown at all. In that cas

26、e, lots of time and energy has been wasted, and the result is not satisfying. If this frequently happens, then the scheduled lessons cant be finished on time, and even individual learning can be thawed. 3.2 How to use the Internet and these varied resources effectively and safely?Firstly, selecting

27、valid websites who are easy to log on to and easy to use for seeking information seems to be a highly necessary.
