4、 the prior year. These terminals have integrated chip and/or magnetic-stripe card readers. They can be used independently or are connected to electronic cash registers (ECRs). The 20.1 million figure does not include smartphones, tablets, peripheral PIN pads, ECRs, and PC-based systems or unattended
5、 kiosks. Asia/Pacific continued as the largest region for POS terminals. It received a total of 8.3 million terminals in 2012, up 27.7%. This was an increase of 1,794,068 units.
