A(2016·甘肃第二次诊断) There was once a lonely girl who longed so much for love. One day while she was walking in the woods she found two starving songbirds. She took them home and put them in a small cage, caring them with love. Luckily, the birds grew strong little by little. Every morning they greeted her with a wonderful song. The girl felt great love for the birds. One day the girl left the door to the cage open accidentally. The larger and stronger of the two birds flew from the cage. The girl was so frightened that he would fly away. So as he flew close, she grasped him wildly. Her heart felt glad at her success in capturing him. Suddenly, she felt the bird go weak, so she opened her hand and stared in horror at the dead bird. It was her desperate love that had killed him.She noticed the other bird moving back and forth on the edge of the cage. She could feel his strong desire—needing to fly into the clear, blue sky. Unwillingly, she lifted him from the cage and threw him softly into the air. The lucky bird circled once, twice, three times. The girl watched delightedly at the bird. Her heart was no longer concerned with her loss. What she wanted to see was that the bird could fly happily. Suddenly the bird flew closer and landed softly on her shoulder. He sang the sweetest tune that she had ever heard.Remember, the fastest way to lose love is to hold on it too tight; the best way to keep love is to give it wings!【语篇解读】 本文是一篇夹叙夹议文。 1.After the girl found the two birds, she ________.A.became frightened at onceB.began to treat them badlyC.greeted them happilyD.fed them and raised themD 根据题干关键词 two birds,找到与之对应的是文章第一段中的“she found two starving songbirds. She took them home and put them in a small cage, caring them with love.” D。2.Why did the girl grasp the stronger bird wildly?A.Because the girl disliked the bird any longer.B.Because the bird wanted to fly alone.2C.Because the girl loved the bird deeply.D.Because the bird intended to find some food.C 根据题干中的关键词 grasp the stronger bird wildly 找到对应句是第二段的第三句“The girl was so frightened that he would fly away.” C。3.What can we learn from the passage?A.Catch what you can catch on your way to success.B.Going too far is as bad as not going far enough.C.East or west, home is best.D.A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.B B(2016·太原模拟) Washington: NASA has announced evidence that Jupiter’s largest moon, Ganymede, has a saltwater ocean under its icy surface. The ocean seems to have more water than all the water on Earth’s surface, according to new Hubble observations.New Hubble observations of Ganymede’s magnetic field strongly suggest that the moon, which is the largest in our whole solar system, is home to a subsurface ocean.Scientists estimate the ocean is 95 kilometres thick, which is about 10 times deeper than Earth’s oceans. But unlike our salty waters, Ganymede’s ocean is buried under 150 kilometres of ice. While scientists have speculated(推测) since 1970s about the presence of an ocean on Ganymedethe largest moon in our solar systemuntil now the only observational evidence came from a brief flyby by the Galileo spacecraft, which didn’t observe the moon long enough to confirm a liquid ocean. This discovery marks an important milestone, highlighting what only Hubble can accomplish. In its 25 years in orbit, Hubble has made many scientific discoveries in our own solar system. A deep ocean under the icy surface of Ganymede opens up further exciting possibilities for life beyond Earth.Scientists__have__already__confirmed__the__existence__of__an__ocean__on__Europe,__another moon orbiting Jupiter, and NASA has announced plans to send an unmanned mission there searching for the life that might come with liquid water.Hubble is a telescope that orbits Earth, but because of its impressive gravitational analyses it can be used to study the inside of far distant planets. Using these same principles, scientists could theoretically detect oceans on distant planets as well.【语篇解读】 这是一篇关于天文知识的新闻报道。 4.What can we learn about the Ganymede from the passage?A.It is a planet with the largest moon in our whole solar system.B.Its ocean adds to people’s excitement about life beyond Earth.3C.It will be used by NASA as a base for the Hubble telescope.D.Its liquid ocean was first proved by the Galileo spacecraft.B 根据第五段中“A deep ocean under the icy surface of Ganymede opens up further exciting possibilities for life beyond Earth.” B。5.Which of the following best describes the writer’s attitude towards Hubble?A.Cautious. B.Doubtful.C.Negative. D.Favorable.D 解析:推理判断题。A.Cautious 谨慎的;B.Doubtful 怀疑的;C.Negative 否定的;D.Favorable 支持的。根据第五段中“This discovery marks an important milestone, highlighting what only Hubble can accomplish.” D。6.What does the underlined part in Paragraph 6 mean?A.An underground ocean has been found in Europe.B.The presence of an underground ocean in Europe is not possible.C.It is now certain that there is an ocean on Europe.D.No evidence has shown the existence of an ocean on Europe.C 通过横线句子中的“confirmed the existence” 和下文“NASA has announced plans to send an unmanned mission there searching for the life that might come with liquid water.” C。7.What type of writing does this passage belong to?A.A term essay. B.A news report.C.An experiment report. D.An exploration review.B A.A term essay 一个学期论文;B.A news report 一个新闻报道;C.An experiment report 一个实验报告;D.An exploration review 一个探索评论。通过第一段“Washington: NASA has announced evidence.” C(2016·齐鲁名校第一次调研) Can you believe your eyes?A recent experiment suggests that the answer to that question may depend on your age. Martin Doherty, a psychologist at the University of Stirling in Scotland, led the team of scientists. In this experiment, Doherty and his team tested the perception(观察力)of some people, using pictures of some orange circles. The researchers showed the same pictures to two groups of people. The first group included 151 children aged 4 to 10, and the second group included 24 adults aged 18 to 25. The first group of pictures showed two orange circles alone on a white background. One of the circles was larger than the other, and these people were asked to identify the larger one. Fouryearolds identified the correct circle 79 percent of the time. Adults identified the correct circle 95 percent of the time. Next, both groups were shown pictures where the orange circles, again of different sizes, were surrounded by gray circles. Here’s where the trick lies. In some of the pictures, the smaller orange circle was surrounded by even 4smaller gray circles—making the orange circle appear larger than the other orange circle, which was the real larger one. And the larger orange circle was surrounded by even bigger gray circles—so it appeared to be smaller than the real smaller orange circle. When young children aged 4 to 6 looked at these tricky pictures, they weren’t fooled—they were still able to find the bigger circle with roughly the same accuracy as before. Older children and adults, on the other hand, did not do as well. Older children often identified the smaller circle as the larger one, and adults got it wrong most of the time. As children get older, Doherty said, their brains may develop the ability to identify visual context. In other words, they will begin to process the whole picture at once: the tricky gray circles, as well as the orange circle in the middle. As a result, they’re more likely to fall for this kind of visual trick. 8.Doherty and his team of scientists did an experiment to evaluate________.A.children’s and adults’ eyesightB.people’s ability to see accuratelyC.children’s and adults’ brainsD.the influence of people’s ageB 根据第二段第二句“In this experiment, Doherty and his team tested the perception(观察力)of some people, ”可知答案为 B。9.When asked to find the larger circle, ________.A.children at 6 got it wrong 79% of the time with no gray ones aroundB.only adults over 18 got it right 95% of the time with gray ones aroundC.children at 4 got it right about 79% of the time with gray ones aroundD.adults got it right most of the time with gray ones aroundC 10.According to the passage, we can know that________.A.a smaller orange circle appears bigger on a white backgroundB.an orange circle appears bigger than a gray one of the same sizeC.a circle surrounded by other circles looks bigger than its real sizeD.a circle surrounded by bigger ones looks smaller than its real sizeD 根据第四段整体的理解和本段最后一句“And the larger orange circle was surrounded by even bigger gray circles—so it appeared to be smaller than the real smaller orange circle.” 11.Why are younger children not fooled?A.Because they are smarter than older children and adults.B.Because older people are influenced by their experience.C.Because people’s eyes become weaker as they grow older.D.Because their brain can hardly notice related things together.D D(2016·长春质检)Welcome to bestwigs. org!
