2、ience (1) To enhance the interest of students in Science and enrich their scientific knowledge, S1 and S2 students have to hand in a book report before May. (2) In order to help students to learn in English, Ch 6 and Ch 11 would be taught in English and the English texts would be prepared for the st
3、udents. Chemistry (1) Evaluation of First Term Exam. (2) Setting of Second Term Test Papers Biology (1) S.6 students attended the Public Lecture of “Organic Aquaculture” organized by Hong Kong Science Museum on 20 March 2010. (2) A workshop will be organized for junior students in April. S.6 biology
4、 students will demonstrate experiments and dissection to arouse junior students interest in the subject. 1 English The Nesta-South China Morning Post Debating Competition (now with sponsorship from the Hong Kong Jockey Club) is back. It is now the fastest growing Hong Kong interschool event and part
5、icipating schools have quadrupled in the last 3 years. Last month our team visited our neighbouring school True Light College as guests when our NET Raymond was the adjudicator for True Lights competition v St Stephens College. We gained an insight into the methodology of other schools in the compet
6、ition and our team spent the next fortnight preparing for their upcoming debate with Islamic Kasim Tuet Memorial School on the topic Celebrity tutors are good value for money. This topic deals with the well known Hong Kong phenomenon of highly paid star tutors with the Form 3 LCDMC team arguing agai
7、nst the motion which we lost by only a few points against a Form 4 team. Debate team members are Jennifer Au Wing Yi (3A), Berry Chan Choi Ying (3A), Jason Chong Pok Ching (3A), Kevin Wai Kwok Chun (3A) and Simon Wong Ting Keung (3A). Another new member Anson Lam Chak Wing (3A) has recently joined t
8、he Debate Club and we look forward to fielding a stronger team for the next round. By joining this competition students are learning the skills of a good debating team : the value of teamwork, good vocabulary, analytical and critical thinking skills, voice projection, self expression and how to put
9、over a persuasive argument, skills which will benefit them in their future studies and in their future careers, as well as encouraging them to take an interest in social issues. Our motion for the next round is That Hong Kong is protecting childrens rights. Please come along and support our team! Ch
10、inese History Teachers strive hard to widen students horizons by organizing different activities. To encourage students learning outside classroom, a visit to Taipo was organized in February. Additionally, to enhance their sense of belonging, students are going to collect information about the histo
11、ry of TWGHs which they will display in the Open Day of our school organized in May. 12、 May 7) (2) S.1 PATHs Tier 2 course will be taught during OLE period on April 16 and April 23. Student Guidance Group (1) The closing ceremony of S.3 PATHs “生命多面體 ” and S.1 “破繭行動 ” will be held on 22 April and 23 April respectively. The Full Attendance Award, the Outstanding Performance Award and th
13、e Best Improvement Award will be presented to the best participants in the closing ceremony. (2) Both S.1 and S.3 participants will be refunded the deposit of $200 if they have attained 90% attendance in all the activities. Those students will be informed about the details later. Moral & Civic Educa
14、tion Group (1) The activity 樂施滅貧利是收集大行動was held on 1st March. Students and teachers were encouraged to donate money to help the poor and the needy in China. Oxfam has expressed its gratitude to all the students and teachers for their support and donations. (2) To encourage students to reflect on the
15、ir academic performance, S.1 to S.3 students were given a reflection form and they were encouraged to have a reflection on their learning effectiveness after they had received their school report card on the Parents Day on 27th February. Parents were also invited to give their comments or opinions.
16、(3) Our school was invited to participate in a study organized by ICAC about young peoples views on the culture of giving presents to others. Four classes (F.1A, F.2A, F.3A & F.4A) participated in the study on 12th March. The findings will be published in the forthcoming issues of the ICACs newslett
17、er拓思. Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) (1) We had an annual picnic day on 21 March 2010. All the families from our school enjoyed the great sunny day.
