The seven basic daily necessities we often talk about are fuel, rice, oil, salt, soy sauce and tea. China, the hometown of tea, has the tradition of tea drinking for thousands of years.

2、Lu Yu, the author of Tea Classic, once said: “Tea as a beverage was discovered by the Emperor Shen Nong”.From the ancient time, many Chinese people especially intellectuals encourage themselves to live their lives with attitude that unmoved either by gain or loss. And tea just corresponds with such

3、attitude, character and pursuit of Chinese people. When we make tea, the tea leaves have ups and downs in the water, just like we have ups and downs in our work or difficulties and hardships in our lives, and we can understand life from the tea.Chinese people often say that while others may be winni

4、ng and dinning, I am content with my plain tea. Facing other peoples success, they try to gain their own success. Therefore Chinese tea represents an attitude of simplicity. And Chinese just like tea, low profiledChina is country with time-honored civilization and a land of ceremony and ritual. And

5、Chinese people have always been known for their propriety and friendliness. They have gradually integrated their propriety and friendliness into the practice of tea drinking during a thousand year. So tea is always served as a rite. Chinese regard tea as a sign of respect, the younger generation alw

6、ays shows its respect to the older generation by offering a cup of tea. Moreover, people also use tea to apologize. That is a sign of regret and submission. In the traditional Chinese marriage ceremony both the bride and groom kneel in front of their parents and serve them tea to express their grati

7、tude to their elders on the wedding day. Nowadays, some area still has this tradition. The application of tea as a rite demonstrates the spirit of “harmony”, the harmonious interpersonal relations.For Chinese, tea is also philosophy, reflected by Daoism, Confucianism and Buddhism. It was Daoisms con

8、cept of calm and inertia nurtured the Chinese lifestyle to enjoy tasting tea and to dissolve humans body into the eternal universe. Confucianism complex structure of etiquette also influenced the creation of the tea etiquette and tea ceremony in China. From Confucius perspective, tea means harmony,

9、calm, etiquette, and optimism. And teas bitter taste can refer to Buddhist suffering; the clean and clear tea liquid can refer to the monastery rule of self-discipline, and calm. In Chinese history, many famous Buddhist temples had planted and nurtured tea trees with great types and quality.Similar

10、to tea, coffee also has abundant intension. Ethiopian ancestors of todays Oromo people were believed to have been the first to recognize the energizing effect of the coffee plant. The first plants grown from smuggled seeds were planted in Mysore. Coffee then spread to Italy, and to the rest of Europ

11、e, to Indonesia, and to the America. In East Africa and Yemen, coffee was used in native religious ceremonies that were in competition with the Christian Church. The Oromo people would customarily plant a coffee tree on the graves of powerful sorcerers. They believed that the first coffee bush spran

12、g up from the tears that the god of heaven shed over the corpse of a dead sorcerer. Coffee also has an important economic impact.Coffee is often consumed alongside or instead of breakfast by many at home. It is often served at the end of a meal, normally with a dessert, and at times with an after-di

13、nner mint especially when consumed at a restaurant or dinner party. In the United States, September 29 is celebrated as “National Coffee Day“. Coffee is ebullient, free, untremmelled bold and unrestrained. It is also a symbol of elegance and romance, especially in Europe. Flavor, acidity, body, arom

14、a, bitter, bland, briny, mellow and so on, there are lots of requirement for a perfect cup of coffee. And the procedure of making a cup of coffee is complicated. We can see rationalism from these. For westerns, life is like coffee. If you lose freshness of life, then take adventure or change another life, like the coffee that was once brewed. If it lost aroma, then make another cup.
