Architects chase the cutting edge, always trying to different, acti

3、ng innovatively and creatively. Hong Kongs architecture actually has long been mould in the true sense of being “modern”, particularly from the period from 1930s to 1980s. We input and implement latest design thinking, technology and personnel from overseas. We used architecture as a symbol of progr

4、ess and socio-economic development, from the Old Hong Kong Bank (1936), Man Yee Building (1956), to the old Hang Seng Bank (1963), Connaught House (1973), to HSBC Building (1985); these are easily the most impressive buildings constructed at their own period of time.This talk will trace the historic

6、entre.hk2. 歷史建築解碼Decoding Architecture in History從追溯香港現代建築的歷史發展痕跡,我們可以了解建築物的更替及其在經濟、政治、社會上所扮演的角色,但沒有多少人會留意這些建築物其實也有它們的故事,也曾存在過。它們有些得以保存,有些則難逃一劫。我們該如何將歷史建築物的故事帶入課室,讓我們的學生能了解歷史建築物與我們的社會也有著緊密的關係?今次的討論嘗試為這些歷史建築物解碼,看看能否帶出一些有趣的故事給學生,讓他們知道其實 身邊的人和物就是歷史 。使他們認識到原來一棟棟的石屎建築物也有它們的故事,也曾在我們的歷史留下了它們活過的痕跡。何黃少鳳女士 (教

8、glish Text)Decoding Architecture in HistoryFrom tracing the historical development of modern architecture, we will understand the change and development of these buildings and their roles in the political, economic and social development of our society. However, the stories behind these historical b

9、uildings are seldom told and not many even notice their existence. Some buildings have managed to survive through the ages while others did not. How could we tell their stories to our students and make them understand that historical buildings also have close relationship with our society?This talk

10、try to decode historical building through digging out interesting stories behind so as to make students understand that history is all around us. Even blocks made of concrete and cement will also have a story to tell and that is the evidence to show that they have actually lived among us in our time

11、 of history.Mrs. Alice Ho (Senior Curriculum Officer, Education & Manpower Bureau) Graduated in the University of Hong Kong, Department of History, she is now working in the Curriculum Development Institute, Education and Manpower Bureau (EMB) as a senior curriculum development officer in charge of

12、curriculum development and in-service teacher development of both History and Travel & Tourism of secondary schools in Hong Kong. She is also a council member representing EMB in the Lord Wilson Heritage Trust. She has been working as senior inspector at the Advisory Inspectorate Division of the for

13、mer Education Department, overseeing the implementation of History teaching in secondary schools.
