Scope*1.1 This specification covers cold-rolled, carbon, structural,high-strength low-alloy, high-strength low-alloy with im-proved formability, solution hardened, and bake hardenablesteel sheet, in coils and cut lengths.1.2 Cold ro

4、lled steel sheet is available in the designations aslisted in 4.1.1.3 This specification does not apply to steel strip asdescribed in Specification A109/A109M.1.4 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound unitsare to be regarded separately as standard. 10、ume fraction of inclusions or modifying the shape ofinclusions to improve formability, weldability, and machinabil-ity.3.1.4.1 DiscussionInclusions, especially those elongatedduring the rolling process, create the conditions for initiating orpropagating cracks, or both, when the material is stretche

11、d orbent during the manufacture of a part. The adverse effects ofinclusions are minimized by reducing the content of inclusionsin the steel or by altering the shape of inclusions, or both,through the use of additions during the steelmaking processthat change the elongated shape of the inclusions to

12、lessharmful small, well dispersed globular inclusions.3.1.5 solid-solution hardened steel or solution hardenedsteel, nsteel strengthened through additions of elements, suchas Mn, P, or Si, that can be dissolved within the crystallinestructure of steels.3.1.5.1 DiscussionAlloying elements that form a

The steel is fully deoxidized, made tofine grain practice and includes microalloying elements su

The steel shallbe treated to achieve inclusion control.4.1.11 Solution hardened steel (SHS), and4.1.12 Bake hardenable steel (BHS).4.2 When required for HSLAS and HSLAS-F steels, limi-tations on the use of one or more of the microalloy elementsshall

23、 be specified on the order.4.3 Cold-rolled steel sheet is supplied for either exposed orunexposed applications. Within the latter category, cold-rolledsheet is specified either “temper rolled” or “annealed last.” Fordetails on processing, attributes and limitations, and inspectionstandards, refer to

24、 Specification A568/A568M.5. Ordering Information5.1 It is the purchasers responsibility to specify in thepurchase order all ordering information necessary to describethe required material. Examples of such information include,but are not limited to, the following:5.1.1 ASTM specification number and

25、 year of issue;5.1.2 Name of material and designation (cold-rolled steelsheet) (include grade, type, and class, as appropriate, for CS,DS, DDS, EDDS, SS, HSLAS, HSLAS-F, SHS, or BHS) (see4.1);5.1.2.1 When a Chemistry grade is specified per Specifica-tion A568/A568M Table X2.3, the grade shall be fur

26、nished asCS Type B 1008, DS Type A 1005, and so forth,5.1.2.2 When a Chemistry grade is specified per Specifica-tion A568/A568M Table X2.1, with no reference to CS TypeA,CS Type B, DS Type A, or DS Type B, the grade shall befurnished as CS 1005, CS 1008, CS 1020, and so forth,and meet chemistry spec

31、omium is permitted, at the producers option, to 0.25 % maximum when the carbon content is less than or equal to 0.05 %.CFor steels containing 0.02 % or more carbon, titanium is permitted at the producers option, to the lesser of 3.4N + 1.5S or 0.025 %.DWhen an aluminum deoxidized steel is required f

32、or the application, it is permissible to order Commercial Steel (CS) to a minimum of 0.01 % total aluminum.ESpecify Type B to avoid carbon levels below 0.02 %.FIt is permissible to furnish as a vacuum degassed or chemically stabilized steel, or both, at the producers option.GFor carbon levels less t

33、han or equal to 0.02 %, it is permissible to use vanadium, columbium or titanium, or a combination thereof, as stabilizing elementsattheproducers option. In such cases, the applicable limit for vanadium or columbium shall be 0.10 % max. and the limit on titanium shall be 0.15 % max.HWhen copper stee

38、Quantity;5.1.10 Application (part identification and description);5.1.11 A report of heat analysis will be supplied, ifrequested, for CS, DS, DDS, and EDDS. For materials withrequired mechanical properties, SS, HSLAS, HSLAS-F, SHS,and BHS, a report is required of heat analysis and mechanicalproperti

39、es as determined by the tension test, and5.1.12 Special requirements (if any).5.1.12.1 When the purchaser requires thickness tolerancesfor38 in. 10 mm minimum edge distance (see SupplementaryRequirement in Specification A568/A568M), this requirementshall be specified in the purchase order or contrac

General Requirements for Delivery6.1 Material furnished under this specification shall con-form to the applicab

42、le requirements of the current edition ofSpecification A568/A568M unless otherwise provided herein.7. Chemical Composition7.1 The heat analysis of the steel shall conform to thechemical composition requirements of the appropriate desig-nation shown in Table 1 for CS, DS, DDS, and EDDS and inTable 2

43、for SS, HSLAS, HSLAS-F, SHS, and BHS.7.2 Each of the elements listed in Tables 1 and 2, andSpecification A568/A568M Table X2.3 shall be included in thereport of the heat analysis. When the amount of copper, nickel,chromium, or molybdenum is less than 0.02 %, report theanalysis as 0.02 % or the actua

44、l determined value. When theamount of vanadium, columbium, or titanium is less than0.008 %, report the analysis as 0.008 % or the actual deter-mined value. When the amount of boron is less than 0.0005 %,report the analysis as 0.0005 % or the actual determinedvalue.7.3 Sheet steel grades defined by t

45、his specification aresuitable for welding if appropriate welding conditions areselected. For certain welding processes, if more restrictivecomposition limits are desirable, they shall be specified at thetime of inquiry and confirmed at the time of ordering.8. Mechanical Properties8.1 CS, DS, DDS, an

46、d EDDS:8.1.1 Typical nonmandatory mechanical properties for CS,DS, DDS, EDDS, and Specification A568/A568M Table X2.3are shown in Table 3.8.1.2 The material represented by all grades specified inTable 1 and Specification A568/A568M Table X2.3 shall becapable of being bent, at room temperature, in an

47、y directionthrough 180 flat on itself without cracking on the outside ofthe bent portion (see Section 14 of Test Methods and Defini-tions A370). The bend test is not a requirement of delivery.However, if testing is performed by the purchaser, material notconforming to the requirement shall be subjec

48、t to rejection.8.1.3 Sheet of these designations except for EDDS aresubject to aging dependent upon processing factors such as themethod of annealing (continuous annealing or box annealing),and chemical composition. For additional information onaging, see Appendix X1 of Specification A568/A568M.8.1.

49、4 EDDS steel is stabilized to be nonaging and so is notsubject to stretcher strains and fluting. Other steels are pro-cessed to be nonaging; please consult your supplier.8.2 SS, HSLAS, HSLAS-F, SHS, and BHS:8.2.1 The available strength grades for SS, HSLAS andHSLAS-F are shown in Table 4.8.2.2 The available strength grades for SHS and BHS areshown in Table 5.8.2.3 Tension Tests:8.2.3.1 RequirementsMaterial as represented by the testspecimen shall conform to the mechanical property require-ments specif
