1、16.2.3.3 Farmland Protection Works in Zhuting Regiona) SchemeZhutinggang, the primary tributary of Xiangjiang river, lies on the right bank of the river course, 38km far from the dam site. The catchment area covered by Zhuting sluice has a collecting area of 389km2. The reservoir inundation to be re

2、sulted from the Project, below normal storage level, will affect 2066Mu of farmland in 4 villages of 2 counties.The design herein is conducted based on the comparison and selection between such two alternatives as hightening and pump draining plus hightening partly. The hightening alternative is tha

3、t the farmland above El.38.5m is to be hightened to design elevation, to realign brooks and, to reconstruct Zhuting sluice. The pump draining plus hightening partly alternative is that, considering present situation of farmland to be inundated in Zhuting region, a large part to be inundated within p

4、rotected scope of original dyke is to be treated by means of pump draining in combination with brooks realignment as well as the part above El.38.5m in the remainder to be hightened to design elevation, furthermore, Zhutinggang river is to be retreated. Based on comparison, pump draining plus highte

5、ning partly alternative is established as recommended scheme herein.b) Procedures and Layout of WorksAll curved reaches of brooks within protected scope of original dykes are to be straightened to replace the curve. Dykes will be reconstructed and newly established along the brooks adjacent to pump

6、draining area. Pump stations and cut-off ditches will be provided in protected region, where the seepage and water log will be drained out by pump stations hereof. Original dyke will be consolidated. Then following the principle of hightening farmland, remaining farmland with elevations varying from

7、 El.38.5m to El.41.0m (exclusive of that at El.41.0m) will be hightened to El.41.0m generally, original roads (including bridges) and the channels net for irrigation and drainage will be restored adequately. In farmland region to be hightened, the cross sections of Zhutinggang river hereof will be s

8、lope protected and consolidated, brooks herein will be channelized, Zhuting sluice will be reconstructed, floods hereof are to be collected through brooks to be aligned and to be discharged into Xiangjiang river through Zhuting sluice, in this case original discharge system can be maintained.2With a

9、foresaid provisions, total 1,634Mu of farmland will be protected, 386Mu of aquaculture will be newly increased, 1km of flood discharge channel will be built up, 1 water-logging pump station will be set up with installed capacity of 100Kw, 4.53km of brook will be realigned, 1.25km of dyke will be con

10、solidated.6.2.3.4 Farmland Protection Works in Gantian Regiona) SchemeGantiangang, the primary tributary of Xiangjiang river, lies on the right bank of the river course, 19km far from the dam site. The catchment area covered by Gantian sluice has a collecting area of 117km2. The reservoir inundation

11、 to be resulted from the Project, below normal storage level, will affect 1,872Mu of farmland in 3 villages of 1 county.The existing dyke system of Gantiangang river are complete relatively, the farmland to be inundated lies on the left bank mostly. The design herein is conducted with the farmland t

12、o be inundated in Gantian region based on the comparison and selection between such two alternatives as hightening and pump draining plus hightening partly. The hightening alternative is that the farmland above El.38.5m is to be hightened to design elevation, to realign brooks and, to reconstruct Ga

13、ntian sluice. The pump draining plus hightening partly alternative is that original dyke will be consolidated, seepage and water log herein can be drained out by pump stations hereof, meanwhile, partial farmland with fairly higher surface elevation originally will be hightened. Based on comparison,

14、pump draining plus hightening partly alternative is established as recommended scheme herein.b) Procedures and layout of WorksA flood discharge channel will be established beyond but along protected farmland region on the left bank of Gantiangang river to discharge mountain floods converging into th

15、e protected region, furthermore, pump stations and cut-off ditches will be provided herein, where the seepage and water log will be drained out by pump stations hereof, original dykes will be consolidated as well. In addition, following the principle of hightening farmland, the farmland with fairly

16、higher surface elevation originally will be hightened.With aforesaid provisions, total 1,619Mu of farmland will be protected, 3km of flood discharge channel will be built up, 1 water-logging pump station will be set up with installed capacity of 240Kw, 2.23km of dyke 3will be consolidated.6.2.3.5 Fa

17、rmland Protection Works in Zhaoling Regiona) SchemeZhaolinggang, the primary tributary of Xiangjiang river, lies on the right bank of the river course, 12km far from the dam site. The catchment area covered by Zhaoling sluice has a collecting area of 205km2. The reservoir inundation to be resulted f

18、rom the Project, below normal storage level, will affect 2220Mu of farmland in 5 villages of 2 townships of 2 counties.Most of the farmland along Zhaolinggang river has been protected by dykes, therefore has possessed a considerably higher protection ability. The design herein is conducted with the

19、farmland to be inundated in Zhaoling region based on the comparison and selection between such two alternatives as hightening and pump draining plus hightening partly. The hightening alternative is that the farmland above El.38.5m is to be hightened to design elevation, to realign brooks and, to rec

20、onstruct Zhaoling sluice. The pump draining plus hightening partly alternative is that original dykes will be consolidated, seepage and water log can be drained out by pump stations hereof, furthermore, partial farmland without the protection of dykes but with fairly higher surface elevation origina

21、lly will be hightened. Based on comparison, pump draining plus hightening partly alternative is established as recommended scheme herein.b) Procedures and layout of WorksFor the farmland with relatively complete dyke system originally and possessing pump draining ability, flood discharge channels co

22、nsidered in this design will be established beyond protected farmland region to discharge mountain floods converging into the protected region, furthermore, pump stations and cut-off ditches will be provided herein, where the seepage and water log can be drained out by pump stations hereof, original

23、 dyke will be consolidated as well. In addition, following the principle of hightening farmland, the farmland without the protection of dykes but with considerably higher surface elevation originally will be hightened.With aforesaid provisions, total 2,095Mu of farmland will be protected, 300Mu of a

24、quaculture will be newly increased, 5.5km of flood discharge channel is built up, 4 water-logging pump stations will be 4set up with installed capacity of 235KW, 4.14km of dyke will be consolidated.6.2.3.6 Miscellaneous Protection WorksReservoir inundation to be resulted from the Project will affect

25、 54 stretches of farmland with area less 1000Mu each, totaled 6,608Mu. Cause the farmland is comprised of a considerable number of stretches, most have comparatively lower but relatively concentrated quantities to be inundated, which are favorable to planning and treatment, except farmland to be inu

26、ndated in Huangzhu region will be provided with pump draining measures the rest will be hightened entirely, say that the farmland above El.38.5m to be inundated will be hightened to El.41.0m. With aforesaid provisions, total 5,343Mu of farmland will be protected, of which the treatment for the farml

27、and with area to be affected between 200Mu and 1000Mu are tabulated in Table 6.2-1.6.2.3.7 Main Quantities of WorksTo sum up the aforesaid, the Project will plan to protect 17,339Mu of farmland in total, newly increase 941Mu of aquaculture. 38、tion will affect 1,165 people, of which 894 people is within protected scope planned. Up to December of design target year 2003, population to be affected will reach 1,205 people inferred from an annual population growth rate at 8, of which 925 people is within protected scope planned, in this case

39、only 280 people is included in compensation cost estimation. See Table 3.2-1.7.2.2 Housing and Appurtenant FacilitiesHousing and appurtenant facilities by design target year 2003, necessary for inclusion in cost estimation, are comprised of two parts as following:a) housing and appurtenant facilitie

40、s to be inundated directly or to be affected indirectly hereby, deducting tangible materials indices within the scope of protection works, surveyed in 1999;b) housing and appurtenant facilities increased of the population increased from September 1999 survey for tangible materials indices to Decembe

41、r of design target year 2003, of which the ones, increased from September of baseline survey year 1999 to commencement of main works in 2001 is counted based on the number of people increased multiplied by a per capita quantity of the item corresponding, 7increased from commencement 2001 to December

42、 of design target year 2003 is counted one-third the number of people increased.Total 16,362m2 housing floor area, obtained based on the above said, is included in cost estimation based on above said calculations.7.2.3 Landa) Farmland The farmland entering into compensation cost estimation is such a

43、rea to be affected by reservoir inundation but deducting the ones covered by planned protection works as 2,785Mu.b) Others Calculated as quantities to be inundated.7.2.4 Functional and Protection WorksThe works are comprised of 3.32km of railway road bed, rehabilitation of 34 farm bridges in reservo

44、ir area, 108 small docks, reconstruction or expanding of 175 culvert sluices, 204 pump stations, 3 small hydropower stations with installed capacity of 250Kw, 24.2km control works for reservoir bank, 17,339Mu farmland under protection. For details see Table 1.3-1.7.2.5 Miscellaneous ItemsOther items are considered in accordance with the survey for tangible materials indices and tangible materials counted in resettlement plan.
