Ill begin this lesson from five parts: analysis of the teaching material, the teaching methods, the studying methods, the

2、teaching procedure, and blackboard design. Part 1 the analysis of teaching materialFirst, let me talk about the teaching material. The selected teaching material is a magazine article taken from the reading section of Module 1, Unit 1 of Advance with English. This reading passage is a vivid descript

3、ion of the school life in Manchester made by Wei Hua, a Chinese girl who once studied in the UK. The students who are expected to learn this unit are the new comers to high schools. They will certainly be curious about British high school life as well as their own school life. So the topic is an ama

4、zing one for the students, and it will definitely stimulate the students interest since they can imagine and arrange their own new school life. Furthermore, it also shows students the foreign culture and extends their eye vision. Naturally, they will have an appetite for the further English study. T

5、herefore the unit 1 actually acts as an activator to lead students to learn the following unit better.1. The teaching aimsAccording to the new standard curriculum and based on the analysis of the teaching material, I have chosen the following as the teaching aims of my lesson:Knowledge aim: 1) To le

6、arn some useful words, expressions and sentence structures;2) To identify the differences in the school life between the UK and China.Ability aim: 1) To train the students reading ability of getting information by skimming and scanning;2) To enable the students to learn to talk about school life.Emo

The teaching focus:1) To get the abilities of skimming and scanning to understand the whole meaning of the text.2) To master key words, phrases and sentence structures.Word

The teaching difficulties:1) To identify the differences in the school life between the UK and Chi

9、na.2) To enable the students to learn to talk about school life.Part 2 the analysis of teaching methodsSecond, it is the analysis of the teaching methods. High school is a time of discovery, learning and hard work. So when teaching senior students, we should make every effort to encourage their init

10、iative and creativity. A good teaching method requires that the teacher should have the leading effects. According to the analysis of the teaching material and the students learning background, I will use the following methods. Teaching methods:Module 1, Unit1 School Life1) “Communicative” Approach2

11、) “Task-based” language teaching 3) “scene activity” teaching 4)CAI (电脑辅助教学 ) Part 3 the analysis of studying methodsThrough the five-year-time English study, senior students in grade 1 master a certain amount of words and phrases and also have a general understanding of English culture. So students

12、 in the class are expected to be the main body, namely, most of the time in the class should be spent on the students. Thence senior students must develop a positive attitude towards English study. Teachers should do as follows:1)Basic learning strategy;The students can get the meaning of the words

13、and phrase 2)Practice strategy;Practice can help the students get the general idea and have a better understanding of the language.3) Communication strategyEncourage them to speak English and develop their oral English. Part 4 arrangement of the teaching procedureStage1:lead-in stage (5mins)At the b

14、eginning of the lesson, I will put forward some questions. “After we enter the high school, we may find some differences the school life between the junior school and the high school. What differences do you find? And what kind of high school life would you like?“1) Group work Divide the students in

15、to four groups. Then I will give students some time to discuss these questions and ask some members of the groups to answer the questions. During this process, I will conclude some features of Chinese school life. After finishing this process, Ill ask the students whats about the school life in the

16、UK. Now we are going to read a magazine article which is written by an exchanging student. She has been studying in the UK for one year. Now she gives a clear brief introduction about her school life there. Purpose of the design:1) This method can arouse their learning interest. 2) Students can use

17、the language knowledge they have learned.3) Through the warming-up period, I lead the topic to the text.Stage2: presentation (5mins)1) To show some pictures about school life in the UK.2) To present the reading strategies: skimming and scanning.Skimming: to get a general idea of the article.Focus on

Without doubt, this will encourage them to speak English and develop their oral English. Stage 6: summary (3mins)1) We have lea

26、rned the reading ability of skimming and scanning.2) We learned the differences in school life between the UK and China.3) Based on the newly language points, we learn to describe our high school life.Stage 7: homework (2mins)1) To search on the Internet or go to the library to look for other differ

I will divide the blackboard into two parts .The left part will be used to write the important vocabulary and grammar and their usage. It will be reserved for the whole class. The right part will

30、be prepared for explanation. I will write some sentence of the words, phrases and structures to explain their meaning.Generally, when teaching senior students, what teachers should do is to do everything they can to trigger students studying interests and develop their studying initiative and creativity .If a teacher can do it, I think It will be a successful lesson.
