5、hough this valley is only four hours away from London, it has not yet been discovered by tourists and artists. The best view of the vale is from the hills surrounding it; it looks like a map spread out. It is a quiet sheltered part of the countryside, where the fields are always green and the rivers

6、 never dry up. To the south lies the great dividing line of hills. From here to the coast the fields are open, the sun pours down on the huge dry fields, the atmosphere is colourless. But here in the valley lies a completely different countryside, smaller and more delicate. The fields are tiny, the

7、air makes you sleepy, the sky is the deepest blue. Everywhere you can see a rich greenery of grass and trees , covering smaller hills and valleys. This is the Vale of Blackmoor”,The secret is that you appeal to the readers senses, in this case an image as to what your eye sees from here to the coast

Have a clear objective in mind as to what you ultimately want to do. Work towards that objective in the subjects you choose at university Be prepared to accept a le

15、sser stepping stone when you first leave university, and be patient to work towards your goal step by step Be flexible if you find the job is not what you thought it was and if so set a new career objective, then that is quite OK also. Quite Ok to change jobs every two or three years now in the big

16、cities, since the commercial values of jobs can change quickly because of new and improved changes in technologies. Always be positive, dress for the job, and keep your Resume updated, since the perfect job for you could be in the paper tomorrow, or at the next party where you meet a new friend.,Rem

17、ember when you first started out, you realised money is not everything and that what you needed was valuable experience , so that in the future you could compete more effectively for higher paid or more important jobs in your line of work. 18、 to the interview stage of your next job,A lot of homework has to be done of course, before you either email or post off your cover letter and Resume/CV to seek to ensure you are shortlisted for interview,Starting the Process,Importance of your Cover Letter,Always remember, your Cover Letter plus at

21、as a super summary of your Resume, so that you have a chance to be shortlisted for interview.It suggests why your current skills fit very well the job description of the vacant position. That you are someone special who has the skills or potential to do well in the positionAnd by such means you get

22、through the first cut of applications, and hopefully considered for the interview shortlist.The HR Manager is the person who generally grades the quality of applications received and creates the shortlist.,Focus on the Cover Letter,Value of Cover LettersYour cover letter is just as important as your

23、 CV or application form. It is your first sales pitch to a potential employer.,Its an overview of your skills and how they apply to the position, not a re-hash of your CV. Even though your CV contains a wealth of information, in your cover letter you must select 3 or 4 key points - which match your

24、understanding of the companys needs, gathered through studying their advert, website or brochure,Human Resources Office,It should cover two key points: what you can do for the company and what the company needs you currently possess -or have the potential to possess.,Appear customised to the needs o

25、f that particular employer, with no spelling, typing or grammatical errors look professional in form either typed or word-processed and appear employer centred (i.e.I believe I can be of value to your company) not too openly self-centred ( i.e. my research has revealed you pay employees more than yo

26、ur competitors) It should cover your interests, skills, accomplishments or what you expect to achieve in the future.,If you are not sure to whom directly to address the letter, call the company and find out the name and title of the person to whom to address your letter. This shows initiative and re

27、sourcefulness. Be sure to include contact information - a return address and phone number, and it should not be more than one page preferably just three short paragraphs.,Always focus on the fact that the primary goal of the cover letter is to get an interview Express your willingness to attend at t

28、he end of the letter. If not already received an acknowledgment by then follow-up your initial communication with a telephone call a week later to make sure they have actually received your application,Group Exercise,Imagine: there is an advertisement for a Regional Human Resources manager position

A CV includes a summary of your educational and academic backgrounds as well as teaching and research experience, publications, presentations, awards, honors, affiliations and other details. As with a resume, you may need different versions of a CV for different types of positions. Li

In addition to the basics, a CV includes research and teaching experience, publications, grants and fellowships, professional associations and licenses, awards and other information relev

34、ant to the position you are applying for.You start by making a list of all your background information, then organize it into categories. Make sure you include dates on all the publications you include.,When do you use a Curriculum Vitae When should job seekers use a Curriculum Vitae, commonly refer
